Our basic criteria for adoptive couples is:

Couples less than 45 years of age.

Unapologetic practicing Christian couples.

No criminal charges within the past 7 years other
than minor traffic violations. NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE!

Couples married no more than 2 times.

Single Christian applicants.

Couples or singles eager to adopt African American
or biracial infants.

No past drug or alcohol violations.

In general, we are interested in couples who are Christians, well established in their spiritual walk with Christ---couples who lead healthy lifestyles and have embraced the decision to adopt a child through prayer and guidance from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. If you are visiting this site, no doubt you have thought seriously about placing a child for adoption, or building your family through adoption. You have many questions--and you should. We understand all your emotions and we are patient and understanding. We put forth efforts to answer all your questions with honesty, and hopefully put your mind at ease about the process of adoption.

ADOPTIONS IS YOUR FULL SERVICE AGENCY!!  We are a North Carolina licensed private adoption agency. We provide adoption services to North Carolina residents. As an experienced professional Social Worker and therapist with over 20 years in Children and Family Services, Julia Childers and her staff provide caring concern and expertise for anyone interested in adoption. Our agency offers FULL adoption services.
GETTING STARTED..
HOME STUDIES----You cannot become involved in the adoption process without a HOME STUDY or a Preplacement Assessment as it may also be called. The HOME STUDY is the legal document required by all 50 states approving a couple or individual to adopt a child (ren).    Our agency only RECOMMENDS CHILD PLACEMENT with couples who have home studies completed by our agency. This assures us we know the couples personally and can have a good idea of what a couples' expectations and criteria are.
WHAT IS A HOME STUDY? The Home Study is a report that is developed after you complete general paperwork for the agency. There is an first interview in our office and then there is an interview in your home. The Home Study contains information regarding your residence, education, age, finances, criminal history, medical history, marital status, family composition, occupation, and general life information. It includes your views and expectations about adoption as well as the age and race of the child (ren) you would like to adopt. It includes the information that is required by the State of North Carolina.
WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD I GATHER FOR THE STUDY? You will be asked to gather some very basic documents. Copies are fine, you do not need originals. You will need birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees if applicable, criminal background check from your County Law Enforcement Office, Statements of Good Health from your Healthcare provider, financial information, employment information, reference letters, and of course your application for adoption which our agency provides to you. When you have completed the paperwork and gathered your documents, we are a phone call away. We will set your office interview usually within the week. Your Home Study can be in your hands within ten days. We take great pride in our prompt approval process. We "understand" you are excited and anxious to begin your adoption journey! We want you to parent, but most of all, we want your adoption experience to be comforting. We reallize your fears, confusion and your overall anxiety. We are here to lessen those emotions and lead you through a positive adoption experience. We build families through listening! Our staff is ready to listen and answer all your adoption questions. We take great pride on being informal and casual. We understand and realize your goal is to build your family. We want you to be comforted and educated about your entire adoption experience. We will talk with you in language you can understand. We will listen intently to your needs and expectations. Together, we will develop your plan for adoption. We are experienced! ADOPTIONS by Julia Childers, PhD, LCSW, a NC private adoption agency. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NC and I am licensed to provide counseling services, consultations and social work coordination. I am a medicaid and medicare provider and accept most insurances in these situations. Therefore, I am licensed as an adoption agency and also as a provider of clinical social work and counseling, psychotherapy services. I also provide special education advocacy consultations. We are a Private Christian Adoption Agency providing assistance in homestudies, post placement visits, court reports, hospital coordination, adoptive couples education, consultation to you for locating and matching birthparents with adoptive couples. Our mission is to save lives through adoption.
ACCORDING TO NC ADOPTION STATUTES: You may also locate your birthparents on your own ~ through your personal advertising, networking or facilitator and retain us to provide the services you need such as your homestudy, post visits, counseling, and court report.

Either way, we are glad to advise you on the legal process of your adoption journey. Your method of locating your child is in your control.
ADOPTIONS main location is in Newton, North Carolina. We also have two social workers.

Julia Childers is licensed by the State of North Carolina as an LCSW and can provide clinical social work and counseling services. She can also provide consultation and coordination as a special education advocate. She has a private practice providing counseling services to individuals, families, and groups.

Dr. Childers operates with two NC state licenses in her office.

Dr. Childers is licensed as a private adoption agency providing home studies, post placements, adoption reports and counseling.

She also holds an LCSW license which allows her to provide services, including, Counseling, Consultation, and Coordination.
